Staying in the same area, we reach the dive site El Tubo from the port of Garachico. It is a little further out than the last two sites. This dive should present no problems, though divers should be familiar with negotiating caves, and should carry a torch. The route explores a volcanically-formed tunnel, the entrance hall being a spectacular vault, more than 12 meters tall with skylights puncturing its ceiling. The tunnel is around 150 meters long in total.
The ridge here is made up of basalt columns on a sandy bed. The entrance to the volcanic tunnel is a large arch in the wall of the ridge. The floor inside is covered with loose rocks. Inside the tunnel we will feel thousands of beady eyes on us, twinkling in the glare of our torchlight; these are the shrimps that pick at the walls of the cave. We might also find a greater locust lobster and glasseyes.
