Only 20 minutes from Los Christianos by boat we find the quiet bay of the village of El Puertito. This is the perfect training site for students but don't be fooled by the shallow depth if you are very experience. This site is also perfect for underwater photography or an afternoon chill-out dive as there is plenty of friendly marine life willing to pose for you! There are common turtle sightings, butterfly rays, bull rays, octopus, cuttlefish and lots and lots of other species! A great example that you don't have to go deep to have a good dive!

El Puertito is an exciting dive in shallow water! This dive site is part of an ongoing project with La Luguna University. For some time the area has been cleaned of black spiny sea urchins that are pretty prolific here in the Canary Islands to hopefully encourage the growth of algae and note the changes. Already it has brought in a diversity of marine life to congregate the rocky reef, Octopus, Parrot fish, Bream, Morays, and rays in many varieties Bull rays, Sting rays, Butterfly rays and three very friendly turtles! What more could you want on one dive.

After a short excursion by car we arrived at a small quiet bay. The shore diving here was pretty cold. We enjoyed it, but didn't see much marine and coral life. I guess we were expecting dive sites to be like in Egypt.

It was nice though. We were with a small group but some great guys.

Take a look at all the pictures!
