Playa Paraiso is one of our favorites! After a 20 minute boat ride we anchor on a cliff between two underwater canyons. As we tour both canyons you will be impressed by the sheer abundance of life all around us. Schools of bream and barracuda circle overhead and there are always parrot fish, cuttlefish, trumpet fish, moray eels, glass eyes and more to see. However the highlight is yet to come; out of the blue comes a dark shape, getting bigger and bigger! This is the best spot to get a close encounter with a giant 2 meter Atlantic Ray. Just remember not to hold your breath as this curious but friendly giant brushes past you!

There are many species of ray to be seen here including eagle rays, butterfly rays, common sting-rays and in winter we often see angel sharks. Look but don´t touch!

We arrived here by car and entered the water as a shore dive. We saw some marine life, but overall this dive was not really spectacular. Nice relaxed dive with some octopus, flat fish, cuttle fish and parrots.

The bay at Playa Paraiso was quiet and entering the water from shore was not hard. It was not the coral and not the amount of marine life that made this dive interesting. It was the family of turtles. We played with them, they swam around, followed and investigated us. It was nice to see them from this close.

Take a look at all the pictures!
